Little things I am so thankful for.....

I am so thankful for Wesley's artwork..and I love the colors of fall so that makes it even more special....and the cute story behind this scarecrow is that when Kate and I went to get Wesley from his preschool room he ran to us holding this and Kate was convinced that he took it from the teacher b/c there was no way that Wesley could have done that..he was very insistent that it was his and he 'made it'. I'm sure he had help but that makes it even more special!
And what makes this artwork even more of a blessing is that once Kate got into Kindergarten they don't really 'color' or 'make artwork' anymore...so its nice to still have my little munchkin bringing this cute stuff home.

Santa Claus came to Victoria...

Santa Claus made his debut at the Victoria Mall on Saturday at 11:ooam (well actually it was about 11;45 before he arrived and even Mrs. Claus was a tad annoyed for the delay). Luckily Kate and Wesley did great waiting for him but despite all pep talks and preparation for the big man, Wesley still did not want to sit on his lap and in order to get both of my adorable kids in the picture I had to sit with Wesley. I was hoping for a picture to put on Christmas cards but no such luck..but it is a great picture and it definitely has a great story behind it which I will definitely share with Wesley for years to come! And while we were waiting in line for Santa Clause, the local reporter for the Victoria Advocate interviewed me and Kate...see the clipping below.

Should we be worried?!?!

For anyone who has met my Kate and Wesley or heard me talk about them in detail knows that while Kate has the most gorgeous long hair, she is not my 'girlie girl'. And while Wesley will pounce on anything in site given the opportunity, he is extra cuddly and sweet for a little boy. Little boys are NOT supposed to be this sweet and caring at TWO. And girls are NOT supposed to be this mellow at FIVE?!?! So today we started the day going to an early church service because Vanessa was coming to visit us.

And as soon as Vanessa came over, Kate had her looking through tattoos to put on everyone. And these weren't the Barbie tattoos you would think for a 5 year old girl..no...they were this really hard core dinosaur tattoos. Kate decided to place hers on her forearm and Wesley put his at the same place as Kate's (surprise surprise) and mommy wore one on her foot and daddy on his upper arm. By the way..I don't think Miss Kate will be placing any future temp tattoos on her lower arm as she has some hair there and getting the tattoo off was a tad painful :)
Then later in the afternoon, Kate and Wesley decided to dress up for Vanessa (NaeNae as they call her). Wesley always seemed to pick out the most feminine items to dress up in. At one point he was completely decked out as a fairy..pink high heel shoes, fairy wings..the whole shebang.
So my million dollar question.....should I be concerned? I would imagine not...I would imagine that this is just a case of us having a really mellow little girl with a mind of her own and a little boy that ADORES his big sis.
Now if Wesley walks out in drag attire when he's 15 and its NOT Halloween, I will probably be concerned. But until then...they are too much fun!

We've got our Holidays all mixed up!?!?!

Not really...we loved dressing up for Halloween and are looking forward to the Thanksgiving Luncheon on Friday with Miss Kate. And we've been focusing on what we are thankful for and we read Jingle Bells (a very loud musical book) every night now in preparation for the upcoming Christmas holidays. And we even watched Rudolph the Red Nose Reindeer today....by the way, it was Wesley's first time to see the movie and the 'snow monster' creeped him out.
HOWEVER, as much as we are looking forward to these wonderful holidays, I found my little munchkins playing dress up earlier today and was surprised to see what they found. Evident ally they were wishing it was Easter again........
And then they had a costume change and I guess Wesley was wishing it was his birthday again because he decided to wear his 4th of July antlers :) And for the record...I don't know if most little boys like to 'dress up' or if it Wesley enjoys it so much because his sweet sister makes it so much fun!

My goal as a mommy blogger....

Is to hit 100 blogs in 2009. When Kimberly and Maria convinced me to start blogging late in 2008, I finally started in 2009 and I LOVE IT!

When I started blogging we were the proud parents of a 1.5 year old and a 4 year old who lived in Conroe, Texas. When I started blogging it was to just post pictures from the stories I was talking about with my friends over lunch or from the chats Tara and I would have on our weekday drives home from work. Then I found myself working more and more from home so I didn't get as much face time with some of my most prized possessions...my wonderful friends from work. All of us had kids about the same age and they had grown up together and blogging enabled us to keep up with each other with our crazy lives.

Who would have imagined that only a few months into 2009 we would be thrown the fastest curve ball of our lives! Now we have a gorgeous 2 year old and amazing 5 year old in Kindergarten and (oh by the way) we moved to Victoria! And we are starting this new phase of our lives and its been an amazing experience. And luckily (because of blogging) I get to feel connected to all my favorite people and their little munchkins!

So my goal was to have 100 blogs this year and I will definitely accomplish that. We still have two amazing Holidays left and a lot of great events going on at our church and Kate's school.

Our Trip to Chaloupka Farm

Wednesday was Kate's second field trip but the first one that I attended with her. The first one was across the street to the fire station (not quite as nostalgic as the Dairy Farm). Since Rocky Creek Farm AKA Chaloupka Farm is a good hour from the school they looked to parents to drive. I volunteered and decided that if I was going to take my car, we might as well take Mr. Wesley as well. We also took Karissa and her mom (also Jessica).

The kids has a blast! What was even more exciting is that my maiden name is Chaloupka and I grew up literally less than 10 minutes from this farm on my own 'Chaloupka Farm'. This field trip had a real corn maze where real corn was going to be harvested in the next month. A really cool hay slide and a huge 'frog hopper'. The kids got to do duck races and even milk an 'imaginary cow'. Wesley thought it was cool...Kate wasn't fooled and wanted a real cow with some real milk. They didn't let us milk a real cow but we did see a slew of real dairy cows waiting to get milked.

Trick or Treat with our Bats!

The Peters' kids found themselves 'in between' neighborhoods this year. With just having moved we don't really have much knowledge of the Victoria 'hot spots'....so what do you do in that situation? Well, you have great friends who have their neighborhood 'adopt' you. And that is exactly what happened. Who needs to be close to home? We just needed to be close to good friends!! Thanks McGoveran's (Shannon, Steve, Kyle and Avery) for inviting us to your awesome Halloween bash! The kids had a blast, mom had a blast, and it was well worth 5 hours round trip in the car!

We had a trick or treat hay ride and the kids loaded up on candy!

Then we had a great Halloween party with pizza and cupcake decorating. Brenda did a great job on the spider cake and cupcakes!
More importantly, we all had a great time visiting with old friends.

And for the record..next year MOM is going to dress up. Also for the record, Mom made Kate's costume homeade. The bat wings were awesome and she was the cutest bat ever! And her sidekick BatMan was absolutely precious! Even when his costume got itchy and he attempted to take it off! love my bats!
