P.S. Kate Loves Dad
Earlier today I was playing with Wesley at his train table and noticed Kate quietly working away at her writing table. She loves to color and do mazes and cut out cool shapes so it wasn't anything unusual. What was unusual is that minutes later she asked her Dad to get her some Orange Juice from the fridge (this is unusual b/c she always asks me for everything first and then goes to dad only if I'm busy or I say no). So this was strange...until he walked to the fridge to open the door and I felt his heart swell up when he saw what she planted under the magnet on the fridge.
She is getting to be such a big girl. And I thought it was just really cute that she decided to surprise him too. Her next kind gesture was to make one for me (Kate heart MOM) and then she made one for Wesley. But the one for Wesley she also adorned a green John Deere tractor on his since we all know 'Wesley loves his green tractor'. They are amazing in their own individual ways but together they are just off the charts cute!

Homecoming Day #5 - Cougar Spirit!
Tonight we are headed to the Lady Cougars basketball game b/c Kate's summer camp teacher Miss Courtney is the basketball captain (and Courtney's mom is Wesley's teacher). We found out this morning that Miss Courtney was nominated as Queen so we are going to cheer her on. Some of the kids had blue hair and Cougar paw prints on their face..it was definitely cool to see all the kids get into the spirit. Here is my little Cougar..........

Homecoming Day #4 - Nerd Day
Isn't she the cutest little nerd ever!

The actual title for today's theme was Urkel Day but it dawned on my early in the week that Kate probably doesn't know who Urkel is....he was on a sitcom well before her time and I don't really ever see him on syndication either so we just kept referring to Thursday as Nerd Day. Yesterday I picked her up from school and asked her if she knew who Urkel was and she said yes : 'He had brown skin and high pants and pupenders (suspenders is I what I think she was attempting to say) and round glasses. I think someone must have filled her in on who Urkel was. Today was the first day that we actually had to go out and purchase part of her attire - the glasses. We had the suspenders (thanks to Wesley's tool man set) but she was not satisfied with my suggestion that we just take an old pair of sunglasses and put white tape......so we went to 3 different stores before she found the pair that she really liked. When she walked up to school this morning she definitely made an impact and I think she was definitely the best dressed Nerd at the elementary campus.

HOMECOMING WEEK -2010
Kate is celebrating Homecoming week at school this week. Her school is fairly small in size and does not currently have a football team however their basketball program (both girls and boys) is very solid and strong. They play in a very hard district of TAPPS and compete against some of the premier Christian schools in the state. So this week is super important to the spirit of the school and we are so excited to be able to dress up every day to take part in the festivities.
Today was hillbilly day. The Homecoming event calendar that was sent home with the kids lined out the weeks dress up activities. For hillbilly day it stated 'Dust off that pair of overalls and your favorite John Deere tractor hat'. My mommy light bulb went 'ding'! Kate has a pair of overalls....she is a country girl at heart so check that one off the list. And John Deere hat?!?! Well let me see....about 7 years ago Justin purchased a brand new John Deere tractor and with that purchase they sent him a owners edition John Deere hat. He has NEVER worn it but had kept it with all of his other hats...I was so excited! I bolted to the closet where he kept all his hats and then another light bulb went off....oh shux...when we moved, I know he cleaned out a lot of his clothes/hats that he never worn. Was the prized John Deere hat want of his victims? I propped myself up on clothes hampers and climbed to the back of the shelves and low and behold..there it was with the tag still on it. We pulled out this old pair of shoes that she had that were dirty and I would not ever dare let her wear in public...but hey! it's hillbilly day right? :)
To complete the ensemble, we got Justin to give up one of his prized old white t-shirts and we cut it into strips to serve as ponytail ribbons. I braided her hair the night before when she got out of the bath so that she could sleep on it and make it look messy (I do think that was her favorite part of it all - having messy hair!). There were a lot of cute kids dressed up this morning but I definitely had the best little hillbilly in these parts!

Can you say C-O-O-K-I-E ?
What do the Peters' kids do when its nasty outside and we go stir crazy from sitting in the house all day?!?! WE BAKE! Kate got a huge cookie cutter set from grandma for Christmas. She's been dying to make cookies....one problem...she doesn't like sugar cookies. So I went through my recipe book of cookies trying to get her to find a cookie dough that would be good for cookie cutters but also good to eat. Her decision--> PEANUT BUTTER COOKIES! Yummy!
Of course Peanut Butter cookies are made with a lot of gooey PB and a lot of butter and those two products are not the best for rolling out and cutting cookie dough. So we had to improvise a little but all in all the cookies still turned out very tastey and cute....

Not pictured are the airplane, puppy, heart and flower that they also made.

House Update #1
I typically blog about the kids but they have kept me so busy the past few weeks that I haven't been able to snap any new photos and while I have TONS of good stories that don't really need photos..it typically is more enjoyable to see pics. Sooooooo...the one thing that I have taken pictures of is our new improved lot (lot = the place of our future home!)
The soil engineer was out at the lot today taking his soil sample needed to engineer the foundation so, in preparation, this past weekend we had to stake out where we want our house to sit. This normally wouldn't be an issue if we had purchased a city lot or even a normal cul de sac lot. But part of what Justin loved about this particular lot is the fact that it is surrounded by small streets on 3 sides (remember I have the socially removed husband who really doesn't want neighbors).
So that means our house can sit many many ways (should it face Post Oak Way? or Post Oak Drive? or Post Oak Circle?). So after many hours of 'deliberating' and 'very tense discussions' we finally agreed on the placement..at least for now. Its just a soil sample...we need to make a final decision before they actually start the framing for the slab.
A few weeks ago, in preparation for this, Justin also had someone come out and clear the land of a lot of the underbrush and keep the really nice trees and trim the trees so that they actually look like trees and not overgrown bushes. So I've included a before and after picture. Not only do we not have to worry about snakes but by clearing the underbrush we can now feel the nice breeze blowing through the trees (and what will someday be our back yard). I am so jazzed for the next steps to start. So when we have a house update or new pics I'll post them here.
We built our house in Conroe in 2002 into 2003 and it was so much fun seeing the progress. This time its even more fun because we have the kids and we get to see them get excited and ask questions. So much fun!
