House Update # 18

WE HAVE A FRONT DOOR!
I absolutely LOVE this front door. When I picked it out Justin was a tad shocked. He loved it but thought it was a little too 'rustic' for my taste. He often teases me that I spent too much time in The Woodlands and have become a city girl. But my heart is definitely in the quietness of the country and I just really really fell in love with the iron work of this door. Thanks Daryn for allowing me to splurge a bit!

House Update # 17

A lot has happened on the house so here are some pictures:

After a rainy season the big trucks wreaked havoc on our lawn surface so finally a nice grating of our soil was done and is ready for sod..woo hoo!

The driveway was poured and Wesley gets his hands printed...

And so does Miss Kate....

And so does Mom

The finished drive way

A view of the driveway from the bonus room...Justin got Daryn to SUPER size our driveway and parking landing and I am so happy that he did..this side of the house gets an amazing breeze so I think we'll have a lot of fun sitting out here while the kids ride bikes in the driveway (I think we could officially make this into a basketball court!)

The dogs first visit to the house...the last time we brought them over we just had a slab so it was fun to watch them 'check things out'..it was very hot though so Rex's tongue says it all...get me into a house WITH AIR CONDITIONING HOOKED UP!

Master shower..tile work is complete along with granite seat (all we need is the glass surround..huge sunken shower..I can't wait to use it!

Kids bathroom tile work is complete

Kitchen tile work and granite is complete and Justin is fascinated with the new faucet :)

And by far my favorite room in the house because its been the biggest surprise thus far...Daryn added the same tile to the utility room as we selected for the kitchen and he gave us a super size sink (to bath my babies - Jake and Rex) and honestly our utility room in our old house was so small and was basically just a pass through from the garage to the kitchen and this utility room is so much more! LOVE IT!

Crazy week deserves peaceful weekend....

Thank you God for all your Blessings. Every day I am so impressed in the peace He puts in my life even when I least expect it. The past few months (ok, who am I fooling..the past few YEARS) have been absolutely nuts at work. I don't feel like I've had a chance to truly disconnect from work even when I'm off. Couple that with all these changes over the past year and I'm just famished. Then throw in some of the things that I absolutely 'thought' I had control over but have come to find out I really don't. But I have learned through parenthood that you get what you give and I was determined to give off good kharma and get some good vibes in return. And I did :)
Saturday was a great day. Justin seized the chance to get some overtime so that meant mommy and me time. We chilled at home for much of the day but did leave for a few hours to see Toy Story 3. Absolutely great movie. Recommend for all ages. Bring some tissues if you are even a tad sensitive. :)

Quite a bit happened with the house last week too..I'll post pictures in a separate posting so I can keep them all 'in order'.
Hoping for a great week ahead for everyone!

T-G-I-F!!

I have never ever wanted a Friday to be over more than today. I would rather it be Monday again. Let me recap the day:

7:30am training (I normally don't roll out of bed until 7:15 so the fact that I had to be functioning at 7:30 and get the munchkins ready was not ideal.
8:20am dr's appointment for ME...yes....I can handle Justin doctor appointments and kids sick or well visits or dental visits but I do not frequent the Dr's office for myself...and typical Victoria style, I spent 4 times as much time waiting (with some very unclassy peeps) than I did visiting with the doc. Follow up appointment needed which is never a good thing :<
Let's go back to 8am when I was hopping off the training session to take the kids to summer camp and just before Justin walked out the door Wesley PUKED..the good thing was that it was at home and not in the car or at school but it meant Justin had to chagne his work plans and stay at home with kids while I went to Dr.
10:15am get home from dr's appointment, relieve Justin from Wesley duty and sit down at the laptop to check in on work...Wesley comes over because he wants me to hold him. He proceeds to throw up all over me in the chair. I allow him to stop as to not spread the damage. He finishes, I place him in the middle of the kitchen (lanoleum floor thank God) and within a few seconds he throws up AGAIN.
10:30am I make a frantic call to our property management company who wants to show our rental house at 4:30pm. I let them know that we cannot do it, they push back HARD, I begin to cry on the phone and they finally (either feel sorry for me or think I'm crazy) and say that they will cancel the showing (the ppl coming to view the house have 4 young boys...at this point I think Wesley may have a virus and really don't want to infect anyone and I don't want to take him out of the house - no puke in my car if we can help it!)
3:30pm after working through much of the day, I get a call from our mortgage company that there is no way we are closing in June and most likely pushed to July 2. That's fine just a lot of things not within my control and that does NOT sit well with me.

So needless to say, I am ready for Friday to be OVER. Hit me Saturday...come on Saturday...if Wesley feels well tomorrow, I will try to take the kids to the see Toys Story 3. I hate to take him to the movies if his tummy is sensitive and he can't have his usual ICEE and popcorn.

I am going to have a long prayer list tonight Lord. Bare with me, please.

Swim Lessons, Kumon and (of course) Whiskers!

This week was one of the busiest weeks of my life....this week I have declared myself one Kick Butt Mom...
This week Kate AND Wesley started swim lessons. Twice a week in the evenings. Kate is doing phenomenal and will definitely be swimming proficiently by the end of June. This is Wesley's first time at swim lessons and he's doing good. Since Kate is relaxing this summer we didn't want her brain to turn into 'mush' so we enrolled her in Kumon to keep her thinking about Math and Reading this summer. Twice a week in the evenings. She is really enjoying it. :)

And our adopted kitty cat Whiskers has found his way into the doggie door. I swear he was an inside cat in another life b/c he is very familiar with how to get in and where to go when he gets in - first to the kitchen where there could be lost food items, then to the fish aquarium to take some wishful sniffs, and finally to Kate and Wesley's bathroom where he proceeds to jump in the bathtub as if looking for a litter box then drinking from the toilet. Its fun watching him and then quickly placing him back outside :)

House Update # (not giving this a formal #)

Since I'm not really posting any pics and don't have a real update, I'm not giving this one a number. We didn't get much accomplished last week but that is the nature of building a house. But Daryn has said that the next 3 weeks are going to be pretty busy. All the finishing touches: tile grouted, counter tops put in, electric buried from pole, driveway poured, Justin's building built, mirrors, carpet, outlets, sinks, hardware, lights....OMG getting nervous thinking about all that has to happen in a few short weeks.

We are just so excited to see if finished and get to the next stage of our lives.

By the way, Kate got accepted as a transfer student to Industrial Elementary West. What does that mean? Well she won't be at Faith Academy next year which is sad...we love them! And this is the first time in 3 years that Kate and Wesley will be at separate schools. :(
But the much more positive note is that Industrial is one of the best school districts in South Texas and is a very small school. Only 2 Kindergarten classes. Which is exactly the environment we wanted for our precious girl. The elementary is also right across HWY 59 from our new house so much less commuting. And with Kate enrolled, Wesley will have priority when he comes to enroll in Kindergarten in a few years!

So starting in August, Kate will officially become an Industrial Cobra and wear Maroon and White! So cool because my school colors growing up were maroon and white and AND of course my AGGIE COLORS were Maroon and White! So we are just a very proud Maroon and White family :)
